Transgender actor Hunter Schafer took aim at the Trump administration after sharing a significant passport update due to an executive order by the president.
“I had a bit of a harsh reality check today,” the “Euphoria” star revealed in a video posted on social media.
Schafer explained that President Trump enacted an executive order mandating that only two genders—male and female, as defined at birth—are officially recognized by the state.
Schafer went on to detail the broader implications of this order. “The Bureau of Consular Affairs has frozen passport applications requesting a gender marker change or renewals or new applications which a gender marker deferring from an applicant’s gender assigned at birth.”
Hunter Schafer reveals that her new passport now lists her sex as male instead of female, following Trump’s instatement:
“I’m not making this post to fear-monger, or to create drama, or receive consolation, I don’t need it. But I do think it’s worth posting to sort of note the… pic.twitter.com/C9DDJEtf4u

The actor shared a personal experience with this policy shift during a recent visit to the federal passport agency in Los Angeles.
“I filled everything out, just like I normally would,” the HBO star said. “I put female, and when it was picked up today—they had changed the marker to male.”
Schafer, holding up the document to the camera, added, “My initial reaction to this—because our president is a lot of talk—was like, ‘I’ll believe it when I see it.’ And today, I saw it on my new passport. Male.”
After filing for a new passport, 'Euphoria' star Hunter Schafer was confronted with the reality of the Trump administration when her gender marker was changed to 'male.'

Schafer stated, “I want to acknowledge my privilege, like, not only as a, like, famous, like, celebrity trans woman who is white, and thin, and can adhere to, like, contemporary beauty standards, and I can participate in all of that, and I pass—and it still happened.”
Although the passport update reflects the actor as male, Schafer that the change does not define their identity. “I don’t give a f**k that they put an ‘M’ on my passport. It doesn’t change, really, anything about me or my transness,” Schafer asserted.
However, the Euphoria star admitted the new identification would present challenges. “It does make life a little harder,” the actor remarked.
Schafer elaborated, “I’ll find out next week when I have to travel abroad for the first time with my new passport.”
Schafer anticipates confrontational situations as a result of the designation change. “But I’m pretty sure it’s going to come along with having to out myself to, like, border patrol agents and that whole gig much more often than I would like to,” the celebrity predicted.
Schafer concluded the message with a jab at the Trump administration. “Trans people are beautiful. We are never going to stop existing. I’m never going to stop being trans,” the actor declared. “A letter on a passport can’t change that. F**k this administration.”
Meanwhile, another event highlighting President Trump’s firm stance on gender classifications made headlines on Friday.
🚨 Trump just BODIED the Governor of Maine
“Is Maine here? Are you not going to comply with [the trans sports ban]?…”
“See you in court.”
“Good. I’ll see you in court… enjoy your life after because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.” pic.twitter.com/HPykKjavMW

During the Governors Working Session, Trump directly addressed Maine’s Democratic Governor Janet Mills over the state’s refusal to implement an order enforcing clear distinctions between men and women in sports.
Trump questioned her publicly, “Is Maine here? The governor of Maine? Are you not going to comply with it?” Mills firmly replied, “I’ll comply with state and federal law.”
Unmoved, Trump retorted, “We are the federal law. You better do it. Because you’re not going to get any federal funding at all if you don’t.” He added, “Your population … doesn’t want men playing in women’s sports. You better comply because otherwise you’re not getting any federal funding.”
Mills struck back with a simple response, “We’ll see you in court.” Trump, unfazed by the challenge, shot back, “Good, I’ll see you in court. I look forward to that, that should be a real easy one.”
“And enjoy your life after governor, because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics,” he added.
The exchange came as Maine’s Department of Education announced its decision not to follow Trump’s executive order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.”
Earlier, the Maine Principals’ Association confirmed that individuals identifying as female would still be allowed to compete in girls’ sports within the state.
Trump later doubled down on his position during a formal remark. Referring to a recent incident where a boy identifying as a girl won the girls’ pole vaulting championship in Maine, he specifically targeted the state’s policies.

“I heard men are still playing in Maine,” Trump stated. “We’re not gonna give any federal money. They are still saying, ‘We want men to play in women’s sports.’ And I cannot believe they’re doing that.”
Trump affirmed his administration’s stance, saying, “We’re not gonna give them any federal funding—none whatsoever, until they clean that up.”
