The Dallas Cowboys draft press conference took a bizarre turn when former President Bill Clinton walked through the door mid-briefing, catching team owner Jerry Jones off guard and nearly sending him to the floor.
The moment unfolded at The Star in Frisco, the team’s practice facility, where Jones was addressing reporters ahead of the NFL Draft.
Jones, 83, was in the middle of answering questions when he looked up and spotted Clinton entering the room.
“Here’s our President Clinton coming through the door out here. He’s coming up here to say hello to us,” Jones said.

Jones remained seated alongside his son Stephen Jones, vice president of player personnel Will McClay and head coach Brian Schottenheimer as the former president approached.
Then Jones stood to greet him and tripped, stumbling forward as staffers rushed in to steady him before he could fall.
The interruption briefly shifted the tone of the press conference before Jones regained his footing and addressed Clinton directly.
“He’s been a wonderful not only president but friend over the years,” Jones remarked jovially. “Happy to have you today.”
“Thank you. Glad to see you. Have a good draft day,” Clinton replied.
Clinton, who attended the University of Arkansas, exchanged a quick joke with Jones about his time playing football for the Razorbacks.
“How much did you weigh?” Clinton asked.
“185 pounds,” Jones answered.
Jones then pivoted back to addressing the media, reflecting on his relationship with reporters and their role in covering the NFL.
“They’ve spent their life and elected to spend their life in sport and that’s why they’re here. And they could have been doctors or lawyers,” Jones said.

“And so when they pick my you know what, and they do, I say guys, ‘We’re actually cousins because we both elected to spend our years in sports around here.’ So be a little sweeter if you wish.
“And that goes there, but great bunch of folks,” he added. “They do a great job, and they’re a big part of what sports and the NFL is about. And this unquestionably will be the largest press conference going on in the NFL today.”
The Cowboys enter this year’s draft holding the 12th and 20th overall picks, with Jones signaling the team may explore aggressive moves.
Dallas does not have a second-round pick after trading it to the New York Jets in exchange for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams ahead of last season’s deadline.
Roster decisions are also shaping the team’s approach. Wide receiver George Pickens, acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers, posted career-best numbers with 93 receptions, 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns, fueling expectations of a major contract.
But the team has no immediate plans to negotiate a long-term deal. “We’ve made a decision that we’re going to have George Pickens (play under the franchise tag). There won’t be negotiations on a long-term deal,” Stephen Jones said.
Pickens has not yet signed the tag tender issued earlier this offseason. Schottenheimer said the team has remained in communication with the receiver.
He said he had a “good” meeting with Pickens and expects him to participate moving forward.
The draft picture extends beyond Dallas. The Las Vegas Raiders are widely expected to select quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick after his national championship run at Indiana.
Mendoza drew attention this week during a ceremonial first pitch at a Miami Marlins game, where his throw sailed high and wide of the plate.

The moment circulated online, drawing reactions that contrasted sharply with his performance on the football field.
Elsewhere, a fan at Coors Field delivered one of the most talked-about catches of the season.
During a game between the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies, Jackson Merrill sent a foul ball slicing down the first-base side.
The ball struck the facade of the second deck and kicked back toward the lower seating bowl, changing direction mid-flight as it dropped into a cluster of spectators tracking it.

One fan locked onto the rebound and made a split-second decision as the ball descended behind him. He leaned backward over the row, extended his glove, and caught it while falling, flipping over the seats as his momentum carried him down.
The sequence unfolded in a blur, with nearby fans recoiling as he tumbled. He landed across multiple rows before coming to a stop, still holding the ball.
People around him rushed in to help, reaching down to pull him back up. After a moment, he stood, appearing shaken but steady, and raised the ball to show he had secured the catch.
Video clips of the play circulated within minutes, with reactions focusing on both the difficulty of the grab and the risk involved in the attempt.
In Chicago, a different kind of disruption unfolded during a Phillies-Cubs game, drawing attention for reasons far removed from the score.

As players and coaches gathered near the visitors’ dugout, a rat appeared along the edge of the field and began moving quickly across the area.
The sudden movement caught several people off guard, prompting players and staff to step back as it darted past.
The rodent had been sitting near a Cubs equipment bag before bolting up the first-base line, hugging the edge of the field as it searched for cover.
It disappeared behind a rolled-up tarp along the foul territory, leaving a brief moment of confusion in its wake.
Broadcast cameras tracked the movement as it crossed the frame, and the reaction from the dugout added to the moment, with players visibly startled by the unexpected interruption.
“The rat’s causing all kinds of havoc,” one announcer said.
