The Democratic National Committee deleted a Memorial Day post attacking Trump with dead U.S. troops after fierce backlash from both parties.
On Memorial Day, the Democratic National Committee’s official X account posted an image of 13 fallen U.S. service members alongside the caption, “Today, we honor the American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in Trump’s war with Iran.”
The image itself also referenced Trump directly. “Remembering the Americans who have died in Trump’s war with Iran,” the graphic read.
Hours later, the post was deleted after pushback from Democrats and Republicans alike.
Democrat Leadership is absolutely repulsive for doing this!

“I’m a Democrat and I condemn this post by the Democratic National Committee,” Sen. Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran, wrote on X.
“It is incredibly distasteful to use our heroic dead for a political attack on Memorial Day.”
Arizona Republican congressional candidate Jay Feely also blasted the post.

“Politicizing the sacrifice of American soldiers on Memorial Day… Absolutely disgraceful,” Feely wrote. “Despicable post from the Democrats.”
The Democratic National Committee account quickly pivoted to a less incendiary Memorial Day message.

“This Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country and defend our freedoms,” the later post reads.
The controversy unfolded alongside another tone deaf Memorial Day social media faux pas involving Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

Shortly after 10 a.m. eastern time Monday, Frey posted a tribute to George Floyd rather than honoring fallen U.S. troops.
“Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago,” Frey wrote on X. “That moment changed our city forever.”
Frey followed the post with several additional messages discussing race, policing and police reform in Minneapolis.
Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago.

“We are committed to honoring this place both as a memorial with global significance and as a neighborhood where people live, work, gather, and heal,” Frey wrote.
Floyd died after being pinned to the ground by officers outside a convenience store where he allegedly attempted to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.
Four officers, including Derek Chauvin, were sentenced to prison over Floyd’s death.
Frey did not post a Memorial Day message honoring troops until more than two hours later.
Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave service members who gave their lives for our country and the freedoms we enjoy today.
We owe them — and the families who carry their memory forward — our deepest gratitude. pic.twitter.com/v8I2tuzr77

“Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave service members who gave their lives for our country and the freedoms we enjoy today,” Frey later tweeted.
“We owe them — and the families who carry their memory forward — our deepest gratitude.”
Florida Republican state Rep. Randy Fine criticized Frey’s earlier posts.
“Newsflash: Today is Memorial Day, not George Floyd Day,” Fine wrote. “Show our fallen heroes and their families some freaking respect. You’re a complete disgrace to America, @MayorFrey.”
Fox News’ star Tomi Lahren also laid into Frey for ill-timed Floyd tribute.
“At first I thought this had to be a parody,” Lahren wrote. “I thought no way this fruity ass mayor was possibly honoring George Floyd on Memorial Day… But here it is.”
Radio host Joe Pagliarulo questioned Frey’s priorities. “That’s your message on the day we memorialize those who gave their lives for our freedom?” Pagliarulo wrote. “THIS is your post? Disgusting.”
Sports commentator Jon Root also criticized the timing. “Today is Memorial Day for the brave men & women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,” Root tweeted.
“Not memorial day for criminal drug addicts who sparked some of the most destructive race riots and racist policy decisions of our lifetime,” Root wrote.
Reporter Andy Ngo also took aim at Frey. “It changed your city, state and my country for the worse,” Ngo wrote. “Rioters on your side killed people and did billions in economic damage.”

Elsewhere Monday, Trump participated in Memorial Day ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery.
Trump laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier alongside Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The Star-Spangled Banner and Taps were played before and after the wreath-laying ceremony.
Trump later delivered remarks honoring America’s fallen troops.

“With reverent hearts, we honor those who fell so that our republic might stand, those who died so that our nation could live,” Trump said.
“Those who gave up their sacred light on earth so that the sublime light of American freedom would shine forever and ever.”
“This Memorial Day, we salute them, we exalt them, and we thank them for all that we have and for all that they gave. They gave everything. God bless our fallen heroes,” he concluded.

Trump also vowed to Gold Star families that their loved ones would never be forgotten.
Vance addressed what he described as the debt Americans owe to fallen service members.
Hegseth focused his remarks on the sacrifices made by troops throughout American history.
.@SecWar at Arlington National Cemetery: "Today, with this humble ceremony, we owe at least this: that with every salute, with every ceremony…every day and every year, we remember. That by our remembrance, we guard the eternal flame that they lit with the price of their youth." pic.twitter.com/fdgUxMizgM

“This solemn day, we must remember that our republic was forged and purchased with blood, American blood,” Hegseth stated.
“So take pause today and consider the transformation these warriors went through for our nation.”
“Ordinary men, when called, can become our heroes,” he continued. “They fought not because they hate what’s in front of them, but because they love what’s behind them.”
Kid Rock also released a Memorial Day message Monday honoring fallen troops.
“This Memorial Day we are remembering the sacrifice and service of so many who are not with us today,” the singer said.

“It’s a special day, and we’re thinking of them. Once again, I wanted to say thank you. God bless all of you for your sacrifice, for your service. Keep on Kid Rockin’ in the free world.”
Rock, who has participated in multiple USO tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, recently appeared alongside Hegseth after a March controversy involving military helicopters flying above the singer’s Tennessee property.
The incident prompted an Army investigation and temporary suspensions for the Apache helicopter crew involved before Hegseth later lifted the suspensions and ended the probe.

One month later, Rock joined Hegseth in Washington for a private military helicopter ride.
In a post on X featuring photos from the trip, Hegseth described Rock as “a patriot and huge supporter of our troops.”
“The War Department is wasting no time celebrating America’s 250th — home of the free because of the brave,” Hegseth wrote.
