President Donald Trump revealed Thursday that he may host a live UFC event on the White House grounds next year as part of a massive celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary.
Speaking to supporters at a “Salute to America” rally in Iowa, Trump announced plans for a patriotic sports competition called the “Patriot Games.”
He also suggested the possibility of turning the White House lawn into a venue for an Ultimate Fighting Championship showdown.
“And I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight… Does anybody watch UFC and the great Dana White?” Trump asked, prompting cheers from the crowd.

“We’re going to have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House,” he continued.
“We have a lot of land there. We’re going to build a little — we’re not, Dana’s going to do it. Dana’s great. One of a kind.”
Trump floated the idea of a “championship fight” that could draw up to 25,000 fans, showcasing his ongoing support for the popular combat sports league and its president, Dana White.

While planning for the massive event is still in the early stages, hosting a UFC match on federal property would likely require an extensive permitting process.
Meanwhile, the world of boxing was rocked this week after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Mexican fighter Julio César Chávez Jr., just days after his loss to social media star Jake Paul.
Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall at The White House makes too much sense.
No realistic American male UFC title contenders right now beyond Josh Van. Dana White gives Jones a year to prepare and a blank check.

ICE agents took Chávez Jr. into custody on Wednesday, four days after his defeat in Anaheim, California.
Homeland Security now claims the 39-year-old fighter has ties to Mexico’s violent Sinaloa Cartel and will be deported via expedited removal.
Video from the arrest shows the former WBC champion being cuffed and loaded into a government vehicle while riding a scooter in Studio City, a high-end Los Angeles neighborhood.

“Do you have anything in your shoes?” one agent asked in Spanish.
“No,” Chávez replied, before asking, “Do you inform my lawyer when I have a warrant?”
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Chávez entered the U.S. on a tourist visa in February 2024. He was flagged as a public safety threat later that year, but the Biden administration did not act.
DHS allowed him back into the U.S. on January 4, 2025, just weeks before President Trump returned to the White House.
“I’m going to beat his ass and send him back to Mexico.”

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin called out the prior administration for its failure to act.
“This Sinaloa Cartel affiliate with an active arrest warrant for trafficking guns, ammunition, and explosives was arrested by ICE,” she said.
“It is shocking the previous administration flagged this criminal illegal alien as a public safety threat, but chose to not prioritize his removal and let him leave and COME BACK into our country.”
In a post to X, the agency detailed the arrest. “On July 2, ICE arrested Mexican boxer and criminal illegal alien Julio César Chávez Jr. He is now being processed for expedited removal from the United States.”
“This Sinaloa Cartel affiliate has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunitions and explosives,” the statement read.

DHS warned that cartel-linked individuals attempting to hide within the U.S. would be targeted.
“Our message to any cartel affiliates in the U.S. is clear: We will find you and you will face consequences. The days of unchecked cartel violence are over.”
In addition to the cartel allegations, Chávez Jr. has a troubling criminal past. He was convicted of driving under the influence in 2012 and illegally possessing an assault weapon in 2024.

Mexico issued a warrant for his arrest in 2023, and DHS confirmed that extradition proceedings are now underway.
Attorney Michael Goldstein, speaking on behalf of Chávez Jr., told the Associated Press that he was unaware of his client’s location following the arrest.
“The current allegations are outrageous and simply another headline to terrorize the community,” Goldstein said.

He confirmed that Chavez is expected to appear in court on Monday in a separate gun possession case.
The boxer’s family released a public statement supporting him. “We have full confidence in his innocence. We firmly believe that the proper course is to allow the competent authorities to carry out their work without external pressure or speculation.”
Chávez Jr., who previously held the WBC middleweight title, was defeated by Jake Paul in a 10-round cruiserweight bout at the Honda Center on Saturday.
Judges unanimously awarded the win to Paul, scoring the fight 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92.
Saturday’s match marked Chávez Jr.’s third consecutive bout in the cruiserweight division, ending in a decisive loss to the 28-year-old YouTube personality turned pro fighter.
