UFC fighter Conor McGregor blasted Donald Trump following the President’s surprising tariff announcement, that has sent shock waves through the world.
Trump, during his “Liberation Day” address, referred to the decision as a “declaration of economic independence” and announced a reciprocal tariff on all imported goods.
Speaking from the White House Rose Garden on Wednesday, Trump detailed broad trade tariffs impacting multiple nations, including Ireland, McGregor’s home country.
While 10 percent is a baseline for world tariffs, Ireland is subject to a 20 percent tariff as part of the European Union – twice the rate imposed on the nearby United Kingdom – which withdrew in 2020’s Brexit.
To be charged double the United Kingdom is an abomination!
If this is fully reciprocal, what on earth are we charging our brothers in the US 20% for at the order of the EU.
Although we are in the EU, Ireland must administer exemption to our siblings in the United States…

“To be charged double the United Kingdom is an abomination!” McGregor posted on X. “If this is fully reciprocal, what on earth are we charging our brothers in the US 20 per cent for at the order of the EU?”
“Although we are in the EU, Ireland must administer exemption to our siblings in the United States separate to the EU, and the favor then returned,” he continued.
“Ireland will separate here and we will charge 10 per cent on Irish goods to the US and the US will charge 10 per cent to us also. Fair play,” he added. “Otherwise, and maybe the caveat in all of this, we should no longer be in the EU.”

McGregor visited the White House last month on St. Patrick’s Day, after appearing at Trump’s inauguration in January.
The southpaw spoke from the White House briefing room alongside Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, where he condemned the Irish government, alleging that it had abandoned its citizens and their concerns.
“I’m here to raise the issues the people of Ireland face. It’ll be music to the people of Ireland’s ears because never on the main stage have [these issues] been spoken,” he began.
The MMA fighter argued that increasing immigration could result in Ireland “potentially losing its Irishness.”
“Our government has long since abandoned the voices of the people of Ireland, and it’s high time that America is made aware of what is going on in Ireland,” he stated.
“What is going on in Ireland is a travesty. Our government is the government of zero action with zero accountability.”
McGregor also warned that Ireland’s cultural identity was under threat due to unchecked migration.
“Our money is being spent on overseas issues that have nothing to do with the Irish people,” he continued.
“The illegal immigration racket is running ravage on the country. There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop, that have become a minority in one swoop.”
Following his controversial White House visit, McGregor had claimed he had “the complete backing of the entire Trump administration” in one of several social media posts.
McGregor has since posted news articles referencing Irish police refuting his claims. On March 19, he addressed his critics on X, accusing Ireland’s “government elite” of using “ad hominem style attacks” to deflect from the real issues.

“What is your response / plan of action to the issues I raised? Ireland wants to know,” McGregor wrote.
“Don’t make me keep going,” he warned. “Do what you’re told by the people of Ireland and we will have no issue here. Do not and it’s over for you. I will publicly send my orders for you to implement and mark my words it will be made to be done.”
The fighter then issued an ultimatum, giving the Irish government less than two weeks to propose a strategy to combat illegal immigration, human trafficking, and welfare-related issues.
“You have Twelve days to present a clear plan of action, on 1. Dismantling Ireland’s human trafficking racket. 2. Mass deportation of dangerous, criminal, and radicalized imports, as well as all who entered illegally, as well as all who are a strain on our welfare system who have made no effort to secure employment or assimilate with Irish culture,” he demanded.
Ad hominem style attacks against me coming in hot by Irelands government elite.
Classic, and glaringly obvious to everyone, deflection tactics.
What is your response / plan of action to the issues I raised?
Ireland wants to know.
America wants to see!

McGregor also advocated for “stringent border protection adjustments” and urged Ireland’s leaders to take action for the sake of their people.
“Save Ireland, or my direct plan of action that Ireland and America wishes to see implemented will come in on White House paper attached with my signature,” he added.
Four days later, McGregor posted a series of messages on X in which he suggested he might run for the presidency of Ireland.
His posts focused on immigration, the treatment of refugees, and the overall well-being of Irish citizens.

“Ireland has a mass illegal migration problem that is eradicating our communities and exacerbating our housing, homelessness, healthcare crisis, all while we are governed by those who usher it in at a rapid rate. In dead of the night at that!” McGregor wrote.
He insisted that the country lacked the infrastructure and services to support continued illegal migration and that policies needed to “stop and reverse” the trend for Ireland’s survival.
McGregor also accused refugee centers, specifically International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centers, of facilitating a “human trafficking racket.”
IPAS operates under Ireland’s Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth to provide housing for asylum seekers and refugees.
“An end to our hotels, our office blocks, our nursing homes, and now even our schools being transformed into IPAS centers must come into effect immediately!” McGregor stated.
“We have well over 300 IPAS centers now across Ireland with many more proposed for this year alone. The destruction of our country right before our eyes is being harbored by our own government!”

McGregor later announced that he would not support the European Union’s migration pact without direct input from the Irish people.
He then criticized Ireland’s taxation policies, claiming citizens were “slaving away” while their taxes paid for “new to the parish visitors.”
“[Refugees/asylum seekers] receive all benefits under the sun, and also, now exposed (it was silent) their foreign imported vehicles fixed and paid for anytime needed,” McGregor alleged.
“Full exemption from driving on foreign reg plates, having zero tax and insurance, and on top of that your car repaired at full cost to the state! That is what the people of Ireland should get now! Because the absolute audacity!!”
