Former President Donald Trump criticized the NFL’s new “dynamic kickoff” rules for 2024, calling it “the beginning of the end” for the league.
The NFL claims the change will encourage more kickoff returns and reduce player injuries during kickoffs.
In a Truth Social post on Friday, Trump knocked the new rules, which he posited would have a negative effect on the league.
“I can’t believe the NFL is effectively getting rid of the always exciting Kick Off Return,” he penned.
I can’t believe the NFL is effectively getting rid of the always exciting Kick Off Return. Such an exciting part of Football. What are they doing? BEGINNING OF THE END!

“Such an exciting part of Football. What are they doing? BEGINNING OF THE END!”
The revised rules stipulate that the kicking team must line up on the receiving team’s 40-yard line and cannot move until the ball hits the ground, the end zone, or a player in the designated “landing zone” between the 20- and 30-yard lines.
The kicker still kicks from their own 35-yard line but cannot cross the 50-yard line until the ball lands.
Additionally, onside kicks can no longer be a surprise to the opposing team, and only can occur when they’re announced beforehand by the team losing in the fourth quarter.
The receiving team, except for two players in the landing zone, must line up between their own 30- and 35-yard lines and return any ball that drops into the landing zone unless it bounces into the end zone.
Touchbacks have also been radically altered this season, with the ball placed at the 30-yard line if kicked directly into the end zone and at the 40-yard line if it doesn’t reach the landing zone or goes out of bounds.
Brittany Mahomes got no camera time last night, and I find that interesting. Last year, she was all in the news cycle as it related to her friendship with Taylor Swift, but now that she’s team MAGA, NBC is too scared to show her. pic.twitter.com/jxFpMRtXjh

In related NFL news, conservative podcaster Jason Whitlock criticized NBC for not showing Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, on screen after she endorsed Trump.
Brittany has been lambasted on social media for liking one of Trump’s social media posts, which the former president lauded her for last week.
She also had tongues wagging at the Chiefs’ NFL opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, when she was not seated near her bestie from last season, singer Taylor Swift.
Like last year, footage from the game focused on Swift cheering for boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Conversely Brittany, who was also heavily highlighted in the previous season, was virtually invisible in the game’s coverage.
Whitlock was quick to point out the difference on the Friday episode of his YouTube podcast.

“Brittany Mahomes got no camera time last night, no discussion,” he began. “Do we blame this on NBC and their hatred of Trump, or is it because Taylor Swift has has stiff-armed Brittany Mahomes now that she is kind of out of the closet as a MAGA person?”
“I find it very interesting, I feel like nobody is talking about this. I tweeted midway through the third quarter, “I can’t believe they’re not going to show her at some point,” he began.
‘I’m sure [Mike] Tirico and Cris Collinsworth wanted no part in having to comment about why she’s been in the news cycle,” he noted about the game’s commentators.
Whitlock pointed out that Mahomes’ support of Trump and relationship with Swift is “something interesting to talk about,” but is being completely ignored.
“Now that she’s my favorite NFL wife, now that she’s on team MAGA, I want to know more about her than I do Taylor Swift, but I got nothing,” he concluded.
Whitlock captioned the video, “Now that she’s team MAGA, NBC is too scared to show her.”
Brittany and Swift, who were inseparable last year, were seen watching the game in different VIP suites, sparking speculation among fans about whether the “besties” from last season had a falling out over Mahomes’ political leanings.
Bill Maher calls out Taylor Swift for watching the Kansas City Chiefs game in a separate suite from Brittany Mahomes because Mahomes is Pro-Trump:

Meanwhile, former CNN anchor Don Lemon is putting pressure on Swift to endorse Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
Swift, who boasts nearly half a billion followers across her social media channels, has recently avoided political endorsements, despite endorsing the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020.
Lemon believes Swift should leverage her fanbase to help get Harris into office.
“Taylor Swift needs to step forward. She’s very influential. She can move an election,” he remarked.
“If she believes in women’s reproductive rights and a women’s right to choose—and in democracy—I would say that Taylor Swift needs to come through,” he continued.
“It would be a wasted opportunity if she does not use her platform for good,” Lemon concluded.
