Tucker Carlson’s New Video Gets Eight Times More Views Than His Fox News Show

Tucker Carlson has finally spoken out after his abrupt firing from Fox News, and the social media video he posted dwarfed his show’s typical viewership by more than nine times.

The former Fox News star tweeted out a two-minute long video on Wednesday night, simply captioning the post: “Good evening.”

“One of the first things you realize when you step outside the noise for a few days is how many genuinely nice people there are in this country,” he began.

“Kind and decent people, people who really care about what’s true and a bunch of hilarious people — also, a lot of those.”

Carlson’s Twitter video was viewed more than 1.8 million times in less than an hour.

The Fox News filler for Tucker Carlson Tonight’s 8pm time slot, which was hosted by Brian Kilmeade, drew 100,000 less viewers with an audience of only 1.7 million.

Carlson’s show typically averaged an audience of around 3.5 million a night. As of publishing, his Twitter statement had been watched more than 28 million times.

He said that taking a step back from television has allowed him to take note of how “irrelevant” political discourse is.

“The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are, they’re completely irrelevant,” he noted. “They mean nothing.”

“In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them, trust me as someone who’s participated.”

Carlson said that “undeniably” huge topics that “will define our future,” like civil liberties, corporate power, and war, “get virtually no discussion at all.”
“When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues?” He questioned rhetorically. “It’s been a long time.”
“Debates like that are not permitted in American media. Both political parties and their donors have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it.”
Carlson noted that censuring television discourse makes the country seem like a “one party state,” and while that is a “depressing realization,” it doesn’t need to become a permanent reality.

“Our current orthodoxies won’t last, they’re brain dead, nobody actually believes them,” he continued. “Hardly anyone’s life is improved by them. This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue. And so it won’t.”

“The people in charge know this. That’s why they’re hysterical and aggressive. They’re afraid. They’ve given up persuasion, they’re resorting to force, but it won’t work.”

While he didn’t mention Fox News, or his firing, Carlson did slide in a jab about how “honest people” who tell the truth in a composed manner, “become powerful.”

“At the same time, the liars who’ve been trying to silence them shrink and they become weaker,” he concluded. “That’s the iron law of the universe. True things prevail.”

“Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but there are some and that’s enough. As long as you can hear the words, there is hope.”

While Fox News has not revealed the reason behind their biggest star’s firing, a source told Vanity Fair that Carlson’s speech at The Heritage Foundation about “good and evil” may have pushed News Corp owner Rupert Murdock to let him go.

“That stuff freaks Rupert out,” the source commented. “He doesn’t like all the spiritual talk.”

SiriusXM shock jock Howard Stern said that Carlson forgot that he’s a “worker bee” and Murdoch is a billionaire.

“At the end of the day, you are a fly on his a******,” Stern said on his radio show. “You’re nothing because he’s still gonna have billions upon billions upon billions of dollars and own a giant corporation. And you know, you cannot f*** up. You can only push them so far.”

“The guys like Bill O’Reilly Tucker Carlson. The thing they forget is that they’re another brick in the wall.”

“That’s what you are. You’re a worker bee. I’m a worker bee. You know, they pay me well and everything,” he concluded.

“I don’t let it for a minute do I think I’m more important than the man who owns this place. He is my Lord and Savior.”
