Singer Chappell Roan cut ties with her talent agency after Justice Department emails revealed flirty exchanges between the owner and Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
The document release showed a 2003 exchange in which agent Casey Wasserman told Maxwell, “I think of you all the time. So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?”
Another message chain referenced beach plans, with Maxwell asking whether it would be foggy enough during a visit “so that you can float naked down the beach and no one can see you unless they are close up?” Wasserman replied, “or something like that.”
Roan responded within days and announced she would exit the Wasserman agency.

“I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well,” she wrote on Instagram.
“No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
She made clear the split was about trust and accountability.

“I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by,” Roan went on.
“Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Wasserman issued a response and distanced himself from Maxwell and Epstein.
He stated that the emails occurred “long before [Maxwell’s] horrific crimes came to light” and denied any connection to Epstein.
“I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them,” Wasserman claimed.
The agency chief has not been accused of crimes at this point, but the DOJ document dump fallout spread through Hollywood as another singer moved to sever personal ties.

Roan recently made headlines when she wore a controversial dress at the Grammys that was held from her body by nipple piercings.
“Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit,” Roan wrote on Instagram unapologetically.
“The look’s actually so awesome and weird. I recommend just exercising your free will it’s really fun and silly 😀 Thank you for having me @grammys and those who voted for me!!”
Brooke Josephson confirmed she is divorcing “Bones” producer Barry Josephson after his name appeared in the DOJ files.

She shared that she “was not aware of Barry’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during [their] entire marriage” and asked for “privacy and prayers for our children and I during this time.”
The DOJ release included 2011 emails in which Josephson told Epstein, “I have ‘the’ girl,” and described her as “Young, attractive, insane rack.”
He added that she was “smart, although not a genius, but very efficient, will do anything, and tight lipped period end of story.”
In 2013 Josephson emailed Epstein, “Casting girls for my pilot on Monday if he wants to stop by my office :).”
When Epstein pushed for certain women to land roles, Josephson replied he would “do anything to make amends” if casting did not work out.
Josephson’s exchanges took place after Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution with a minor under 18.
The widening document dump also shifted positive attention to President Donald Trump.
An FBI memo summarized a 2019 interview with former Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter, who recalled Trump contacted police during the 2006 investigation into Epstein.
Reiter told investigators that Trump alerted authorities and remarked, “thank goodness you’re stopping him everyone has known he’s been doing this.”

The memo states Trump told police he “was around Epstein” when teenagers were present and “got the hell out of there.”
He also urged officers to focus on Maxwell, whom he described as “evil.”
Reiter informed the FBI that none of the victims reported sexual contact with anyone other than Epstein.
Trump has long stated he removed Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in the early 2000s.
He told reporters in July 2025 that Epstein “stole” spa staffers, while other accounts suggested Epstein made advances toward a member’s teenage daughter.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the alleged phone call during a press briefing.

“Look, it was a phone call that may or may not have happened in 2006. I don’t know the answer to that question. What I’m telling you is that what President Trump has always said is that he kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club because Jeffrey Epstein was a creep,” she said.
She added that if the call occurred, it supports Trump’s public account.
“And that remains true, and this call, if it did happen, corroborates exactly what President Trump has said from the beginning,” Leavitt said.
Leavitt also suggested reporters may need to reassess prior narratives.
“And I’m sure many of you, when you read that alleged FBI report, probably thought to yourself, ‘Wow, this really cracks our narrative that we’ve been trying to push about this president for many years.’ So we’re moving on from that,” she said.
