A viral deepfake clip and a mocking comment from a Republican congressman set off an angry internet rant from Trump-hating musician Jack White.
Jack White publicly criticized Republican Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee after the congressman shared an artificial intelligence-generated video that falsely depicted the musician attacking Trump supporters.
The former White Stripes frontman, who hails from Tennessee, accused the lawmaker of spreading misinformation and engaging in what he described as childish personal attacks.
The dispute unfolded after Burchett reposted a video from a pro-MAGA account that appeared to show White declaring to Trump supporters, “Don’t even think about listening to my music, you fascists.”

The video circulated widely on social media, despite being fabricated using AI technology.
Alongside the repost, Burchett added a comment aimed at White’s appearance, writing, “That cute girl from the Addams Family got really ugly and angry.”
When another user pointed out that the clip was not authentic, Burchett responded, “You mean it’s not the girl from the Addams Family?”

The video in question was created by digitally manipulating footage from White’s speech at the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held in November.
During the original seven-minute address, White spoke about the band’s early days, reflected on his influences, and encouraged emerging musicians to persist in their craft. Trump supporters were not mentioned during that speech.

White has vocally criticized President Donald Trump and his administration numerous times, just not in that video.
Ahead of the 2024 election, he objected to the unauthorized use of his song “Seven Nation Army” in a Trump campaign video, responding online with the caption, “Oh….Don’t even think about using my music you fascists.”
On Monday, White posted a lengthy statement on Instagram condemning Burchett’s actions and language.
He questioned how an elected official could circulate fabricated material without verifying its authenticity.
“Can you believe that a U.S. congressman, that’s right, a CONGRESSMAN (from my state no less), a once hallowed and respected position in our society, would repost an AI generated video, containing a false comment that I never said and refuted (without researching that I might add) and like a 10-year-old on a playground, add to it attempted insults to my physical appearance?” White went off.
He continued by questioning the widespread use of social media by politicians.
“What kind of joke are we all living in now?” he asked hysterically. “All of Trump’s lackeys and bootlicks like this elected official are cowards that would never talk this way to anybody like me or you in person.”
White attributed what he described as declining standards in public discourse to President Trump’s leadership.

He argued that political behavior had shifted since Trump entered office.
“Neither him nor his sycophantic congressmen and women manifest class or dignity, they all just regurgitate cheap, childish, grade school bullying points and fake christian(!) rhetoric,” White added.
The musician further criticized what he viewed as the tone of modern American leadership.
“It’s really sad how embarrassing our leadership has become, I so wish the average American conservative could have a conversation with any intelligent people in other countries around the world, just for one brief moment, and actually see just what a joke our government (and by proxy our country) has become.”
White singled out Burchett as unworthy of representing Tennessee. “Tennessee deserves better,” he wrote, before adding, “But you and your cult are too dug in and blinded to even realize it.”
He continued his criticism by referencing the FIFA Peace Prize that Trump was awarded by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in early December.

“Holding a bible in one hand and a flag in the other while you stomp out our democracy day by day in the service of one man’s ego so that he can use taxpayer money to receive his fake peace prize and tear down the White House brick by brick. Embarrassing,” he howled.
White concluded his statement by predicting future political shifts of Trump supporters.
“There will come a time in the future when none of these right wingers will admit to being a part of this cult from this time period,” he wrote.
“All the MAGA hats will be in landfills and actual intelligent and honorable leadership will take their place.”
White also referenced historical American figures while questioning current governance under the Trump administration.
“Let us remember the highly educated and well spoken leaders like JFK, FDR, MLK, from America’s history, because when i look around now, I’m wondering if half of these so called representatives have ever actually read the constitution that they pledged an oath to.”
The clash with Burchett is not White’s first confrontation with Republicans or the Trump administration.
In August, he engaged in a public dispute with the White House after communications director Steven Cheung responded to White’s criticism of Trump’s policies by calling him a “washed-up, has-been loser.”
Rock icon Jack White slams Trump's transformation of the Oval Office in a new Instagram post:
"Look at how disgusting trump has transformed the historic White House. It's now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler's dressing room. Can't wait for the UFC match on… pic.twitter.com/J9pvqgFCS6

White fired back at the time with sharp language directed at the president.
“Here’s my opinion, trump is masquerading as a human being,” White wrote. “He’s masquerading as a christian, as a leader, as a person with actual empathy.”
“He’s been masquerading as a businessman for decades as nothing he’s involved in has prospered except by using other people’s money to find loophole after loophole and grift after grift.”
White also weighed in on Trump’s remarks regarding the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, who were allegedly killed by their son, Nick Reiner.

Trump posted on Truth Social that the couple were killed “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”
Trump added that Reiner “was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness.”
White responded by calling the remarks offensive. “To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin,” he wrote on Instagram. “Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this.”
He further referred to the president as a “disgusting, vile, egomaniac, loser, child” in the same post.
