Liberal Hollywood heavyweight George Clooney delivered what appeared to be a thinly veiled jab at Hunter Biden’s well-documented struggles with substance abuse while responding to the former first son’s expletive-filled attack against him.
When asked about Hunter Biden’s profanity-laden response to his op-ed calling for President Biden to exit the 2024 race, the Ocean’s Eleven actor grinned before dismissing much of what the younger Biden said as fabrications.
The Democratic donor then appeared to reference Hunter’s history of drug problems in his closing remarks.
“Well, I could spend a lot of time debunking many of the things he said because many things he said were just outright lies. Obama didn’t put me up to it, it wasn’t my fundraiser, it was my fundraiser – all the things,” Clooney detailed.
Hunter Biden just went off on the Democratic Party:
"Fuck him and everybody around him… George Clooney is not a fucking an actor. He's a brand."
"James Carville hasn't won a race in 40 fucking years."

“But the reality is, I don’t think looking backwards like that is helpful to anyone, particularly to him. I don’t think it’s helpful for the Democratic party.”
“And so I’m just gonna wish him well on his ongoing recovery and I hope he does well, and just leave it at that,” he said in a veiled reference to Hunter’s drug problems.
“I have many personal opinions about it, but I don’t find it to be helpful to have a public spat with him.”

The exchange stems from Clooney’s controversial New York Times op-ed published last July, which became a turning point in the 2024 presidential race.
The actor and major Democratic fundraiser became one of the first high-profile party members to publicly demand that then-President Biden withdraw from the election due to concerns about his age and mental acuity.

The revelation is made in CNN's Jake Tapper's new book, where he is profiting off of his own cover-up of Biden's mental decline.

Hunter Biden unleashed a torrent of profanity against Clooney during a three-hour interview with YouTuber Andrew Callaghan in Wilmington, Delaware, shortly after the op-ed’s publication.
The former first son sat down with Callaghan in July and did not filter his feelings about the Hollywood star.
“F*** him, f*** him and everybody around him,” he said about Clooney.
“I agree with Quentin Tarantino, F***ing George Clooney is not a f***ing actor. He is a f***ing, like, I don’t know what he is. He’s a brand,” Hunter ranted.

“And by the way, and God bless him you know what, he supposedly treats his friends really well, you know what I mean, buys them things. And he’s got a really great place in Lake Como and he’s great friends with Barack Obama. F*** you, what do you have to do with fucking anything?”
Hunter took particular issue with Clooney’s account of a fundraiser where the actor claimed to have witnessed the president’s declining mental state firsthand.
The younger Biden insisted that Clooney barely interacted with his father at the event.
“And he may know George for the last 30 years and he may have met him 15 times but the guy on his shoulder, who’s usually a military officer, has one job, to say the name of the person who’s walking up,” Biden said.
“I was there. I watched George Clooney be introduced to my dad with 30 other people in line and the guy said, ‘Mr President, George Clooney and Julia Roberts.’ That’s it, that’s the story,” he explained.

Hunter claimed that Clooney used that incident to undercut his father.
“What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of his f***ing life to the service of this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are gonna take out basically a full-page ad in the f***ing New York Times to undermine the president at a time in which, by the way, what do people care about the most?” he raged.
“Why do you think that the Republicans have an advantage over us? Because they’re unified.”
In the op-ed that sparked the firestorm, Clooney said of the president that “the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.”
Clooney divulged that the Biden he saw at the fundraiser was the same one who appalled Democratic voters on the debate stage.
“This is about age. Nothing more,” Clooney wrote. “We are not going to win in November with this president.”
The actor’s pressure campaign proved successful. Within two weeks of the op-ed’s publication, Biden announced he was ending his reelection bid and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.
Clooney thanked the former president “for saving democracy once again” in response, and endorsed Harris.
However, during the interview, Clooney revealed he now believes Harris ascending to the top of the ticket was the wrong move, despite his initial endorsement of her candidacy.
The “Ocean’s Eleven” star said it was a “mistake” for Harris to step in as Biden’s replacement on the 2024 ticket.

When asked if he’d write the op-ed again, Clooney responded affirmatively. “Yes,” Clooney said. “We had a chance. I wanted there to be, as I wrote in the op-ed, a primary. Let’s battle-test this quickly and get it up and going.”
Clooney went on to explain that Harris wasn’t the ideal choice to nominate in Biden’s stead.
“I think the mistake with it being Kamala is that she had to run against her own record. And it’s very hard to do, if the point of running is to say, ‘I’m not that person,'” he continued. “You know, it’s hard to do.”
“And so, she was given a very tough task,” the actor added. “I think it was a mistake, quite honestly. But we are where we are.”
Despite his assessment that Harris was the wrong choice, Clooney claimed that it was still better that Harris run instead of Biden, despite her overwhelming loss.
“We were going to lose more House seats, they say. So, you know, I don’t know,” he remarked. “To not do it would be to say I’m not going to tell the truth.”
