NASA officials aren’t letting Kim Kardashian’s moon landing conspiracy theories slide.
The reality star and entrepreneur, 45, sparked immediate backlash from the space agency after publicly declaring during the latest episode of “The Kardashians” that she believes the 1969 Apollo 11 mission was staged.
Her comments prompted an a direct response from NASA leadership under the Trump administration.
During a behind-the-scenes conversation with her “All’s Fair” co-star Sarah Paulson captured between takes on set, Kardashian attempted to convince the actress that the historic moon landing never actually occurred.
Yes, @KimKardashian, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times!
And even better: @NASAArtemis is going back under the leadership of @POTUS.
We won the last space race and we will win this one too 🇺🇸🚀

“I’m sending you a million articles with both Buzz Aldrin and the other one,” Kim said in the footage that stunned viewers. Paulson replied, “Yes, do it.”
The SKIMS founder then referenced what she described as an interview with Aldrin, claiming he said, “There was no scary moment, cause it didn’t happen. It could’ve been scary, but it wasn’t, cause it didn’t happen.”
Kardashian suggested Aldrin’s advanced age made him more likely to accidentally reveal the truth, adding, “So I think it didn’t happen.”
Well buzz aldrin agrees with me that they didn’t go to the moon and no one filmed it.
So when he says to Conan “no you didn’t watch the moon landing it was animation” is he lying? I thought they had a remote controlled camera?

Paulson appeared somewhat convinced by Kardashian’s presentation, telling her she planned to take “a massive deep dive” into what Kim had sent her.
Producers later confirmed on camera that Kardashian shares “conspiracies all the time” with friends, according to the reality star herself.
Buzz aldrin is a Damn dirty moon landing denying conspiracy theorist! Everyone knows Tyrone shoelaces recorded the boys golfing on the moon. But they left him there to die. Isn’t that right buzz…

A producer pressed Kardashian on whether she genuinely believed astronauts never set foot on the lunar surface.
Her response left no room for interpretation. “I don’t think we did. I think it was fake,” she said without hesitation.
The mother of four insisted she had “seen a few videos” of Aldrin “talking about how it didn’t happen.”
Kardashian laid out her reasoning, repeating arguments that the space agency has spent decades systematically debunking.

This is the best photo on Neil Armstrong on the moon, it was captured by Buzz Aldrin on one of the few occasions that he had the 70mm camera rather than Armstrong.

“There’s no gravity on the moon, why is the flag blowing?” Kardashian asked. “The shoes they have in the museum have a different footprint than the photos. Why are there no stars?”
Rather than backing away from her controversial stance, Kardashian appeared to welcome potential criticism.
She told producers, “They’re gonna say I’m crazy no matter what. But like, go to TikTok. See for yourself.”
The space agency immediately responded to Kardashian’s televised claims. Within hours of the episode airing on Hulu, acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy tagged Kardashian in a post on X, directly addressing her conspiracy theory.
“Yes, we’ve been to the Moon before… six times! And even better: [NASA Artemis] is going back under the leadership of [President Trump]. We won the last space race and we will win this one too,” Duffy wrote.
Kardashian seemed unshaken by NASA’s correction, responding by pivoting to ask about an unrelated space topic.
“Wait… what’s the tea on 3I Atlas?!?!!!!!!!?????” she wrote, referring to an interstellar comet currently being tracked by NASA scientists.
Great question!@NASA’s observations show that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system. No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth.
3 = the third
I = interstellar, meaning from beyond our solar system
ATLAS = discovered by our Asteroid… https://t.co/StDNRqvRCJ— NASA Acting Administrator Sean Duffy (@SecDuffyNASA) October 30, 2025
Duffy took the opportunity to educate Kardashian with a detailed scientific explanation.
“Observations show that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system. No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth,” he explained.
“3 = the third, I = interstellar, meaning from beyond our solar system. ATLAS = discovered by our Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) team,” Duffy responded.
The NASA administrator told Kardashian he loved her excitement about the Artemis mission and extending an invitation for her to attend the next rocket launch at the Kennedy Space Center.
The scientific community has spent decades methodically dismantling every conspiracy theory about the moon landing.
According to the Institute of Physics, “every single argument claiming that NASA faked the Moon landings has been discredited.”
The organization pointed out that 382 kilograms of moon rock were returned to Earth and verified by independent labs around the world, providing physical evidence that would be impossible to fabricate.
Despite Kardashian’s characterization of Aldrin’s statements, the legendary astronaut has consistently defended the mission’s authenticity throughout his life.

In a famous 2002 incident, Aldrin punched a moon-landing denier who called him a liar and demanded he swear on a Bible.
The exchange between Kardashian and NASA comes as the agency shifts its focus toward returning Americans to the lunar surface through its Artemis program.
President Trump has positioned the initiative as part of a renewed American space race, this time against China rather than the Soviet Union.
Duffy recently told CNBC that the agency intends to “open up the contract” process for new lunar landing systems, revealing frustration with delays from SpaceX, the private space company led by Elon Musk.
“We’re not going to wait for one company,” Duffy said in his interview. “We’re going to push this forward and win the second space race against the Chinese. Get back to the moon, set up a camp, a base.”
SpaceX has faced mounting criticism for missing key benchmarks in the Artemis timeline, creating tension between the company and NASA leadership.
“They push their timelines out, and we’re in a race against China,” Duffy said. “The president and I want to get to the moon in this president’s term, so I’m going to open up the contracts.”
SpaceX fired back at the criticism through its social media presence, with Musk himself weighing in.
“Blue Origin has never delivered a payload to orbit, let alone the Moon,” Musk wrote on X, taking aim at Jeff Bezos’s competing space company.

The company followed up with a lengthy blog entry titled “To the Moon and Beyond,” outlining its progress on lunar exploration technology and defending its commitment to the Artemis program.
“Humanity is at an inflection point,” SpaceX wrote in the post. “For the first time in our existence, we possess the means, technology, and, for the moment, the will to establish a permanent human presence beyond Earth.”
SpaceX detailed how Starship remains the centerpiece of its lunar exploration efforts, claiming the program is “moving at a historically rapid pace” and covering “90% of the cost” of its own development.
The company also defended its selection for NASA’s lunar lander contract, noting it was chosen through “fair and open competition” and received “the highest technical and management ratings while being the lowest cost by a wide margin.”
