Actress Charlize Theron took aim at Donald Trump over the weekend, blasting his administration for slashing U.S. foreign aid and accusing the president of targeting vulnerable communities out of sheer hostility.
The Oscar-winner delivered her fiery comments Saturday night during a fundraiser for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP), an organization she founded nearly two decades ago.
The event was held in Los Angeles and centered around her ongoing work supporting youth health initiatives in southern Africa.
“The world feels like it’s burning because it is,” Theron said. “Here in Los Angeles, in the US and across the globe, we are moving backwards fast.”

The South African-born actress didn’t hold back. “Immigration policy is destroying the lives of families, not criminals.”
“Women’s rights are becoming less and less every day, queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased, and gender-based violence is on the rise,” she declared. “This isn’t just policy, it’s personal. F**k them.”
She tied the cuts in USAID funding to the Trump administration’s foreign policy, accusing officials of targeting health programs in Africa out of cruelty.
“Foreign aid cuts brought HIV and AIDS programs in my home country of South Africa to an absolute standstill,” Theron said.
“All of this is not just detrimental, it’s dangerous. People will lose their lives,” she went on.

“Many have already unfortunately and at a frightening rate. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see this kind of unnecessary suffering.”
Theron claimed that USAID represents a tiny fraction of the overall federal budget.
“Cutting less than one percent of this budget means millions of people that are going to die,” she warned.

However, the “Monster” star celebrated what she called a growing resistance to the administration’s agenda.
“There is hope, there is power in all of us standing up, organizing, protesting, voting and caring for each other, and refusing to accept that this is the new normal,” Theron told the crowd.
“That spirit of resistance, justice and care for each other, that’s the spirit that drives the work at CTAOP.”
“Although our focus is on the youth in southern Africa, what we’re really talking about here tonight is that all lives should be valued,” she added.
“Everyone should have the right to be healthy and safe and should be able to be seen.”
Her criticism extended beyond public policy. During the event, Theron made a jab at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s high-profile wedding in Venice, Italy, which took place the same weekend.

“I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that’s OK because they suck and we’re cool,” she said.
The ceremony, which drew the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, and Tom Brady, sparked protests across Venice.
Dozens of activist groups, ranging from housing advocates to environmental organizations, condemned Bezos for what they described as taking over the historic city.
One banner read, “Money cannot buy style,” while another mocked, “55 million dollars spent on the wedding just to get a divorce in three days.”

Greenpeace also joined in, unfurling a massive banner featuring Bezos’ face and the message: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding then you can pay more tax.”
Theron’s remarks at the event were personal as well as political. As an immigrant herself, she was deported from the U.S. at 19 after overstaying a work visa.
“I got deported when I was 19 for producing and financing a documentary on Cuba,” she told OK! magazine in 2008.
Too funny! 😂The locals in Venice are so unhappy that Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez are having their elaborate wedding 3-day wedding, with 200 guests, that protestors have placed ‘Jeff Bezos mannequins’ throughout the canal city: pic.twitter.com/cOESCKIiFN

“You don’t want to keep pushing your luck. I only became an American citizen last year,” she said at the time.
She elaborated in a 2007 Vogue interview on why she finally chose to become a citizen.
“After the last two elections I kind of went, You know what? If this is where I’m going to live, I want to be able to vote,” she told the outlet.
“I don’t want to just talk a good game. I want to be able to be involved without having some horrible fear that I’m going to get kicked out.”
