Comedian Wanda Sykes torched white Americans during a fiery appearance on “The Late Show,” saying they should feel “embarrassed” over the state of President Donald Trump’s second term in office.
Sykes, who once worked at the National Security Agency, didn’t hold back as she and host Stephen Colbert discussed the controversy surrounding Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The scandal, dubbed “Signalgate,” erupted after Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg was mistakenly added to a Signal chat in which U.S. defense officials discussed plans to strike Houthi militants.
But Sykes pivoted quickly from discussing details of the breach to a disgusting cultural rebuke.
“You gotta amp it up”

“I have to say, white people, y’all should be embarrassed by this. You really should be. Y’all really need to do something, seriously. ‘Cuz this is embarrassing,” she said.
She continued, laying responsibility at the feet of Trump voters. “I know you’ll say, ‘Well, Wanda, why white people?’ Because we tried to tell y’all! We tried to tell ya’ll, and y’all didn’t want to listen, so now this is your problem,” she continued.
“Black people are busy,” she added. “We’re doing other stuff right now. Y’all gotta do it.”
Sykes applauded some protest efforts against the Trump administration but pushed for more aggressive action.
“And I’m so proud of you. I see you out there protesting. So keep up the good work, but now you got to amp it up,” she went on. “I need y’all to go back and look at some of our old protests and get some tips.”
Then came the punchline: “Black folks, we’re going to be right there behind you — not really,” Sykes quipped.
“We’re not even going to be behind you You know what?” She doubled down. “We’ll like your post, that’s what we’ll do.”
The comedian blasted the administration as “embarrassing, incompetent, and corrupt,” before mocking Hegseth’s use of the encrypted messaging app.

“You ain’t got no business being on Signal!” she said. “Signal is for booty calls! That’s it! That’s it!”
The aftermath of Signalgate triggered a shake-up within the administration on Thursday.
National security adviser Mike Waltz, reportedly responsible for including Goldberg in the chat, was removed from his role.
Goldberg revealed on March 24 that he was accidentally added to a discussion outlining strikes against the Houthis.
While the White House maintained that no classified data was leaked, the optics proved damaging. Still, Trump stood firmly behind Waltz.
“Michael Waltz has learned a lesson, and he’s a good man,” Trump said in a statement to NBC.
Rather than cut ties, Trump nominated Waltz to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations after pulling back Rep. Elise Stefanik’s (R-N.Y.) nomination’s last month.
“I am pleased to announce that I will be nominating Mike Waltz to be the next United States Ambassador to the United Nations,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“From his time in uniform on the battlefield, in Congress and, as my National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz has worked hard to put our Nation’s Interests first. I know he will do the same in his new role,” he added.
In the interim, Trump tapped Secretary of State Marco Rubio to take over Waltz’s duties while maintaining leadership of the State Department.

“Together, we will continue to fight tirelessly to Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump added.
Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, now a sharp critic, took to the Wall Street Journal to blast the administration’s disorganization.
“It doesn’t have to be this way. Not in my experience have emojis been deployed as they were during the inexplicable group chat on Signal,” Bolton wrote in a scathing op-ed.
“For Mr. Trump, however, chaos is embedded in his DNA and endemic in his team.”

Vice President J.D. Vance, however, backed the decision to move Waltz, insisting it was not a firing.
“I like Mike. I think he’s a great guy. He’s got the trust of both me and the president, but we also thought that he’d make a better U.N. ambassador as we get beyond the stage of the reforms that we’ve made to the National Security Council,” Vance said during an interview with Fox News’s “Special Report.”
Vance dismissed the media’s framing of the move as punitive. “I think the media wants to frame this as a firing. Donald Trump has fired a lot of people. He doesn’t get them Senate-confirmed appointments afterwards,” he said.
“What he thinks is that Mike Waltz is going to better serve the administration, most importantly the American people in that role, and I happen to agree with him.”
