“Real Time” host Bill Maher blasted President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party for refusing to admit that his advanced age is becoming a problem.
During his show’s Friday episode, the HBO host displayed a series of recent headlines from legacy media about how Biden’s age was concerning voters.
Maher proposed that the 81-year-old president “lean into” his age and embrace the “Matlock” crowd, instead of setting himself up for failure by trying to reach younger voters in an “inauthentic” manner.
“If Democrats want to win the next presidential election, they need to find a way to make the Biden age issue work for them,” the HBO host began in his opening monologue.

“Because you know what’s really getting old about Joe Biden? Complaining about his age.”
He acknowledged that the nation is “worried Joe’s not as quick as he used to be,” but encouraged the Biden campaign to stop “trying to refute all the too old to be president” jabs by conservatives.
“Stop with the “I’m sharper than ever.” Nobody’s buying that. Don’t try to deny the age thing, lean into it. Lean in, lean in like you’re eating soup,” he joked.
“And just admit it! Say, ‘Yes, I’m bad with names and I walk like a toddler with full diaper, but I believe in democracy,’ Maher cracked while showing footage of Biden ambling across a sidewalk.
He pointed out that “the idea of letting the opposition intimidate you into being defensive about who you really are,” is not a new problem for Democrats.
Maher knocked climate envoy John Kerry for “pretending to be a duck hunter,” and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for once claiming to carry “hot sauce in her purse.”
“Americans hate that s**t,” he explained. “Be yourself! And Joe, yourself is old. That’s who you are. Old.”
“You once fell down the stairs at the Underground Railroad,” the “Club Random” host quipped. “You’re so you’re so old, your bad kid with a drug problem is 54.”
He advised Biden to “take a page” from how former GOP presidential candidate John McCain campaigned in 2008.
“I’m older than dirt, I have more scars than Frankenstein, but I’ve learned a few things along the way,” McCain said at the time.
Maher mentioned that nobody cares if Biden can still ride a bike, and by trying and falling, he is only setting himself up “for failure.”
“You recently joined TikTok to win over the kids, get off that s*** right now! It’s inauthentic, and it won’t work,” he noted.
Maher accused Biden of failing to pay attention to the demographics, as less than half of voters under 24 voted in the 2020 election, while nearly 72% of Americans over 65 showed up at the polls.
“Those are your people, Joe. That ‘Matlock’ crowd,” he insisted. “Reach out to them… Take all your ads of Twitter and put them on CBS. Tell America I feel your joint pain.”
Maher encouraged Biden to “let his old fart flag fly” at next week’s State of the Union address by using a walker.
“Saturday Night Live” piled on the next day, when they opened the show with a sketch that mocked Biden’s surrogates for relentlessly defending his age and mental acuity.

In the segment, CNN’s Dana Bash, who was played by Heidi Gardner, interviewed California Gov. Gavin Newsom, portrayed by Michael Longfellow, about polls indicating that American’s don’t believe Biden is up for another term.
During the mock interview, Newsom begged voters to consider Biden’s record, not his public gaffs.
“He’s created more jobs than any other president in history. Inflation is down. The Shamrock Shake is back and Beyonce has gone country. Thank you, Joe,” he remarked.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre (Ego Nwodim) also appeared in the segment and insisted that Biden is “the most vigorous man” she’s every known.
While Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, played by Marcello Hernández, claimed that he had a hard time keeping up with Biden when he visited the Texas border this week.
Mayorkas said that Biden went into “beast mode” and “parkoured to the top of the border wall.”
“He front-flipped into the Rio Grande and came back up with a fish in his mouth. But you didn’t report that because it doesn’t fit your little narrative,” he accused Bash.
“With all due respect, it doesn’t fit reality,” the mock CNN anchor shot back.
