Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana is back in hot water with liberal social media after deleting his apology for saying “a woman is a woman and a man is a man” at his recent concert.
The backlash began after Santana, 76, made the seemingly impromptu remarks during his New Jersey concert this week.
“When God made you and me, before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are,” he began.
“Then when you grow up and you see things, and you start believing that you could be something else,” Santana said about the growing transgender movement.
Last night at a concert in New Jersey, rock legend Carlos Santana said “when God made you and me, before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are… a woman is a woman and a man is a man.”

“It sounds good. But you know it ain’t right because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it,” he continued.
“Whatever you wanna do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m okay with that.”
The guitarist was immediately labeled as “anti-trans” for for making the commentary.

“Carlos Santana is a transphobe too. Sick of the hatred,” someone tweeted. “Whatever I’m glad these people are telling us how they really feel so we don’t waste our time with them.”
“I find it sad that Santana had the urge to spew his hate for trans people,” another replied. “He is obviously someone I will never listen to again.”
In a less than shocking twist, the “Black Magic Woman” performer made a lengthy apology in a Facebook statement.
“I am sorry for my insensitive comments,” he wrote. “They don’t reflect that I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs.”
“I realize that what I said hurt people and that was not my intent. I sincerely apologize to the transgender community and everyone I offended.”

Santana laid out the “personal goal” that he strives to achieve on a daily basis.
“I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs whether they are LGBTQ or not. This is the planet of free will and we have all been given this gift,” he groveled.
“I will now pursue this goal to be happy and have fun, and for everyone to believe what they want and follow in your hearts without fear,” the apology went on. “It takes courage to grow and glow in the light that you are and to be true, genuine, and authentic.”
“We grow and learn to shine our light with love and compliments. Have a glorious existence,” he concluded. “Peace.”
However, it seems like Santana didn’t actually mean it when he apologized, or possibly had a change of heart, as the statement was deleted from Facebook and replaced with a less wordy message.
“The energy of consciousness generates its own kind,” he posted instead. “Hate begets hate, love begets love.”

Naturally, his retraction was not taken kindly by liberal social media.
“He apologized, then deleted the apology… he doesn’t seem “sorry” to me,” someone wrote. “F**k that guy. He’s bigoted trash.”
“Sorry, Carlos Santana, wicked guitar skills do not make bigotry okay. No one’s interested in your fake apologies,” posted someone who claims to be both “unapologetically authentic” and an “ordained minister of Satan.”
“I guess deleting them was the most honest thing you’ve done in this situation,” they continued. “Thanks for being “honest”, that’s one less thing to waste money on.”
However, plenty of fans had the “Maria Maria” performer’s back.
“Carlos Santana, despite growing up in San Francisco, still knows that sex is real,” someone defended.
“His forced public apology and struggle session recantations for stating facts will probably wake a lot of people up to the dangerous lunacy that’s captured the press and political establishments.”
“One of the greatest guitarists of all time also has a basic knowledge of human biology,” another added.
