Alan Ritchson says Donald Trump’s election win killed one of the “Reacher” storylines he wanted most.
The actor aired the claim on Threads after a fan brought up Amazon Prime passing over “Die Trying”, Lee Child’s 1998 novel that the fan called “the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp.”
“My favorite book,” Ritchson wrote. “Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.”
Ritchson left Trump’s name out of the post, but he tied the vanished plan to a reelection after the fan mentioned the militia plot.
The “Reacher” star has also admitted that his political mouth has become a problem for the people paying for his projects.
During an August appearance at Fan Expo Canada, Ritchson told the audience that studio executives have contacted him over what he says publicly.
“You know how many phone calls I get from studios like, ‘Would you shut the fuck up, please? Stop talking in public,’” he said.

Ritchson tried to frame his comments as an attempt to push back against disorder, then caught himself before launching into another politician-filled rant.
“I mean, but it’s not chaos I’m after,” he said. “It’s actually the opposite of chaos. I’d like a little — I’m not going to get into it. You don’t want to see my rants start these goddamn fucking politicians everywhere.”
Sony, he told the crowd, had already told him to stay quiet.
“I’m not going to do it. Sony told me not to. And I’m not going to say anything. Not today. Not today, Epstein,” Ritchson said as the crowd cheered.
When the woman interviewing him offered a fist bump, Ritchson answered, “Pedos win.”
His fight with Trump went public in July, when Ritchson said the president should “go to jail” during an Epstein files tirade.
“This is my f*cking politics, dude. I would f*cking railroad these f*ckers I would get those Epstein files out in two seconds,” Ritchson said at the time.
Ritchson demanded the files be made public so people could be held accountable, then referred to “these f*cking rapists” without directly naming Trump.
“That b*tch has the keys to the nuclear—he’s all up into 13-year-olds. Dude, what? Go to jail. Go to jail,” he added.
The career blowback, Trump fight and canceled “Reacher” claim have played out while the 43-year-old actor’s personal life has also been splashed across Instagram.
One week after his Fan Expo appearance, Ritchson told followers that he and Catherine Ritchson were ending their 20-year marriage.
“Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside each other in a different way,” he wrote.
Ritchson wrote that they had grown up together, built a family and were raising three sons who would remain “the center of our world.”
“Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us — or the love and respect we will always share,” he wrote.
By Sept. 20, Ritchson was back on Instagram shirtless in a sauna setting, turning the conversation toward self-love.
“Here’s some post-sauna clarity for ya,” he began. “Today I want to talk about learning to love yourself and how I think this could be the great antidote to our times and the frustration that many of us feel.”
Ritchson talked about people being told they fall short, tying the pressure to sobriety, material goods, Western culture and the belief that love has to be earned through something external.
“The world bombards us with so many messages, each day, about how we’re not quite enough, right?” Ritchson said.
He traced that feeling back to childhood memories of strangers commenting on his looks while his mother privately undercut the attention.
“In my ear, she’d whisper, ‘It’s not all about you,’” Ritchson recalled.
Ritchson said that repeated message changed the way he understood being loved.
“You start to feel like, ‘I’m not only not worthy of love, but I’m not supposed to be loved,’” he said. “And you carry that into adulthood.”
The actor has also put his bipolar disorder, depression and past suicide attempt into his public story.
Last year, Ritchson said he tried to take his own life during a period when his acting career was gaining momentum.
“Being bipolar has wreaked havoc on my life many, many times,” he said. “I would wish it away if I could, but it’s so much a part of who I am now that I should celebrate it a little or, at least, accept it.”
Ritchson was also caught on video in March beating up his neighbor, then later said the neighbor had instigated the fight.

At Fan Expo, Ritchson told the audience, “I’m a suicide survivor,” before describing an alleged threat from a former business partner during a Cannes, France, trip.
Ritchson said he was at the Hotel du Cap selling a film when the woman threatened to accuse him of rape if he would not come to her hotel room.
“I was depressed because I had done everything right,” Ritchson said.
The actor said the former business partner threatened to call TMZ and tell a reporter that he raped her in Cannes.
“So it was like she was blackmailing me to come up, and I was like, ‘No, I’m not doing that,’” Ritchson said.
Ritchson did not publicly name the woman. He said he brought in a litigator, fought the alleged threat and eventually reached a settlement, though he described the business split as ruinous.
“I lost everything in that relationship; she was a billionaire, and she actually tanked every bit of our business and cost me a lot,” Ritchson said.
Ritchson said he was left wondering what happens in life “when you do good” and “try your hardest.”
The actor said he “felt helpless,” “really broken and depressed,” and began thinking it would be “a gift” to his family if they did not have to deal with the fallout from the alleged scheme.
