Rep. Anna Paulina Luna set off a fresh social media frenzy after posting a snowy, gun-toting photo of herself that instantly drew Lara Croft comparisons and AI monster edits.
The Florida Republican, an Air Force veteran and former member of the Oregon National Guard, posted the image late Tuesday on X, showing herself armed with a rifle and a holstered pistol in the snow.
“Being stationed in the Pacific Northwest had some benefits🌨️ and NO it’s not AI. 😎,” Luna wrote.
The post quickly took off, with supporters praising the congresswoman and others turning the image into meme fuel.

One X user used Grok to transform the photo into an AI video that imagined Luna battling a charging white yeti in the snow.
In the clip, the AI version of Luna yells, “what’s that a yeti?” as the creature charges uphill behind her.
When the monster reaches the top, she warns it to “stay back,” fires an automatic weapon and shouts, “eat this.”
After a final shot drops the fictional creature down the hill, she yells, “Not today.” Luna replied to the edited video with a laughing crying emoji.
The photo also sparked comparisons to the action heroine Lara Croft, with one admirer telling Luna she needed to be hired as the next actress in “Tomb Raider.”
Supporters leaned into the military-and-action-movie energy of the post, while critics accused her of wasting time online.
The reactions came as Luna, who is known for regularly sharing viral content, has built a political brand around attention-grabbing posts, UFO disclosure, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and protecting the legacy of Air Force legend John Chapman.
The online storm around Luna’s photo unfolded as the national Democratic Party was also drawing attention for a much different reason: a vulgar post from its official X account.
The blowup began after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP Senate primary, setting up a race against Democratic nominee James Talarico.
The Democrats’ official account posted a photo of Talarico and declared, “Fired up. Ready to go. It’s time to take back Texas.”
shut up you ugly fuck

White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller responded by mocking the party’s nominee.
“The Democrats made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate,” Miller wrote.
Rather than answering with a standard political hit, the Democrats’ account fired back with a crude insult. “Shut up, you ugly f*ck,” the account posted.
The exchange brought renewed scrutiny to Talarico, a Texas Democrat whose past comments about gender, religion and veganism have become major targets for Republicans.

Talarico has previously argued in legislative hearings that modern science recognizes “six biological sexes.” He has also said “God is non-binary” and described Jesus as a “radical feminist.”
An unearthed podcast clip also showed Talarico saying that, outside of his family and friends, the thing he loves most in the world is “trans children.”
Republicans have seized on his record in the Texas Legislature, where he opposed bills restricting transgender surgeries and cross-sex hormones for minors and fought measures aimed at keeping biological males out of women’s sports.
Talarico has also argued that parents who refuse to “affirm” a child’s gender confusion are “abusive” and “destructive.”
Talarico tried to walk back some of his past remarks during an interview with CBS News.
“You said God is non-binary. What did you mean by that?” CBS reporter Ed O’Keefe asked.
Texas state Rep. and Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico responded to GOP attacks over his past remark that God is “non-binary,” telling @edokeefe that some of his previous comments “missed the mark.”

“I was being intentionally provocative with that statement, but what it means is that God can’t be defined by human categories,” Talarico replied. “The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, says that in Christ there is neither male nor female.”
Talarico said he would continue defending Texans he believes are being targeted by powerful politicians.
“I’m always going to stand up for Texans who are being picked on by the most powerful, most corrupt politicians in the country, and I’m going to continue doing that in this race, and hopefully in the U.S. Senate.”
O’Keefe pressed him on whether he regretted talking about God that way.
“There are some statements that I’ve made that I certainly regret. There are statements that I’ve made where I’ve missed the mark,” Talarico conceded. “I’ll be the first to admit that, but Ken Paxton is intentionally clipping my cringy comments to distract from his career of corruption.”
Talarico appeared to be referring to a viral super PAC ad backing Paxton that compiled some of his most controversial statements, including his remarks about the American flag, transgender children and gender.
“Low T Talarico – too weak for Texas,” the ad said.
CNN political analyst Nia-Malika Henderson said Talarico’s religious framing could hurt him in Texas.

“That’s going to be a problem in Texas, and it’s going to be a problem for a lot of Christian voters, whether you’re a Latino, black, or white, they don’t agree with that interpretation of the faith and of Christianity,” Henderson said. “He’s a vulnerable candidate in Texas.”
Sen. Tom Cotton also hit Talarico over his record. “James Talarico supports trans surgeries for kids,” Cotton posted. “Talarico said God is ‘non-binary,’ he believes there are six genders, and he wants taxpayers to fund abortion. He has no business serving in the Senate. Ken Paxton will make a fantastic Senator for Texas and he has my full support.”
The Texas Democrat has also been trying to shake off the “vegan” label in a state where barbecue is practically a political language.

Paxton has called him “Tofu Talarico,” while Trump joked that “You can’t get elected as a vegan in Texas.”
Democrats responded by posting a photo of Talarico eating barbecue. Talarico also said he has “been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment.”
That defense came after resurfaced video showed Talarico announcing in 2022 that his campaign had become a “non-meat campaign.”
“I am proud to say that our campaign has officially become a non-meat campaign,” he said. “We are only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses.”
The Paxton-Talarico Senate race is set for Nov. 3.
