Actor Jeff Daniels can’t let go of Kamala Harris’ landslide defeat to President Donald Trump in last November’s election.
Appearing recently on MSNBC’s “The Best People” podcast hosted by political analyst Nicole Wallace, Daniels made his dissatisfaction clear.
“I still think about Kamala, and how I think she would have been a good choice. I don’t care what they say,” Daniels said, defending the embattled Democratic nominee.
“Because she would have done what [former President Abraham] Lincoln did,” adding that former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney would have been appointed Secretary of State in a Harris administration.
There is a reason we ignore the opinions of actors.

Wallace chimed in with a nod to historical comparisons, referencing Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, “Team of Rivals,” noting how Lincoln famously filled his cabinet with political adversaries.
Daniels agreed, claiming that Harris would have followed a similar path by surrounding herself with opposing viewpoints rather than with “people who would, you know, take a knee and go, ‘Yeah, more tariffs, sir, more.’”
The actor, best known for starring beside Jim Carey in the “Dumb and Dumber” franchise, launched an attack on the Republican Party.

According to Daniels, Trump’s leadership has driven the GOP into moral decay.
“It’s the madness of King George… and just the deterioration of the Republican Party,” he said, before quickly adding, “I’m just an actor. What do I know?”
Daniels claimed he’d been warning about conservative strategy for decades, pointing to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as the mastermind behind a long-term plan to shift the courts.
“When Mitch started stacking the courts 25 years ago, I said it on your show once. They can see it coming,” he said.
“The new America that is diverse and treats everyone with equality and respect, and dignity, you know, kind of like Jesus did. We’re ready for that.”

He blasted “Mitch and company” of standing in the way of this version of America out of fear that conservatives would become the minority in the country.
“We’ve lost decency. We’ve lost civility. We’ve lost respect for the rule of law,” Daniels continued. “Lost it. We have normalized verbal abuse on the internet. We’ve normalized bullying.”
He blamed the Right for allegedly enabling these social trends, despite what he called attempts by the woke generation to shift the culture in a different direction.
“Out the window goes character, integrity,” Daniels claimed, insisting America now elects “the worst of us.”
The Emmy winner then turned his attention to Trump directly, calling him “everything that’s wrong with not just America but being a human being.”
Daniels questioned how conservatives could continue to support Trump, claiming the former president contradicts Christian values.
He even suggested that Jesus himself would disapprove of current American politics.
Daniels even voiced a wish for Trump supporters to suffer financially under Republican leadership.
“I hope you’re losing tons of money, those of you who thought this would be OK,” Daniels said flatly, directing his remarks at Trump voters. “My question is, what are you guys going to do about it?”
Wallace responded by saying Trump’s economic policies, particularly tariffs, would eventually backfire on his own base. Daniels concurred, pointing to inflation and consumer prices as the tipping point.
“Wait a minute, the grocery bill is what? $180 more? I can’t get that car that we have to have unless I pay another $8,000. What? Who do I blame for that?” Daniels asked rhetorically. “One person.”
He then called Trump a “snake oil salesman,” suggesting the president made empty promises about lowering prices while everyday Americans suffer.
“At the end of the day it would be about just the price of eggs, did it go up or down, because that’s what he told me he was going to lower the price of eggs or my grocery bill,” the actor concluded.
While Daniels was busy airing grievances on MSNBC, another actor, Alan Cumming, was on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” unleashing his own theatrical political tirade.
Guest-hosting the late-night show, Cumming opened with a monologue that painted the U.S. as a dystopian nation under Trump’s leadership.
“America, how are you doing? No, really, how are you doing?” he asked the audience mockingly.
“I mean, how are you doing aside from being a country that has just reintroduced concentration camps, taken healthcare away from 17 million people to give billionaires a tax cut, and also to finance an armed militia of masked men that commits heinous assorted kidnapping and crimes against humanity on a daily basis? Aside from all that, are you okay?”
Cumming, a Scottish-born actor and host of NBC’s “The Traitors,” used his and Trump’s shared heritage as a punchline, noting that Trump’s mother was also Scottish.
“And that’s probably why as a nation we drink so much,” he joked.
The former “X-Men” star, who played Nightcrawler in the franchise, then pivoted to transgender issues, framing trans individuals as heroic figures.
“I happen to believe that there are actual superheroes in real life who walk among us, and these superheroes are called trans people.”

Cumming compared the transgender experience to comic book heroes who must conceal their true identities from an unaccepting society.
“Like superheroes, evil billionaires want to get rid of trans people for no [bleep] reason whatsoever,” he claimed.
“And just like superheroes, trans people are not new,” the reality show host added.
“They’ve been around forever, and they’re not going anywhere, no matter how much this administration tries to make you fear them.”
Cumming escalated his commentary by accusing the U.S. of favoring rapists over transgender citizens.
“[The] country that actually treats rapists better than trans people,” he claimed, without evidence.
He concluded with a controversial depiction of Jesus as a supporter of LGBTQ+ ideals.
“Even as an atheist, I am a big fan of Jesus, I really am,” Cumming said. “I mean, what’s not to like? A tall, gorgeous man with great abs and flowing hair, getting his feet washed by prostitutes, and encouraging people to love their neighbors all the while slaying in a loose caftan.”
“And Jesus was an immigrant, by the way, let’s not forget,” he concluded.
