“Reagan” star Dennis Quaid, spoke about his admiration for former President Donald Trump’s accomplishments in the White House and his approach to retaking it.
Quaid appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” after Trump’s rally in the South Bronx on Thursday, which drew thousands of supporters for the 2024 presidential hopeful.
“I really admire Trump for going into the neighborhoods,” Quaid said during the show. “You know, people relate to that. They really do. If anything, all these events that been conspiring against him have actually made him more human to people.”
Far-left Squad member, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), had much more scathing commentary about the event.
The Bronx has a historic and significant presence in American politics. In the 70s, Democrats used the people of the Bronx as pawns and they resented it. “Donald Trump is broke. He needs money. He’s hosting a rally to try to con people and try to fleece them out of every dollar that they have to fund his own legal fees,” she told reporters about the rally in her home town.
“And by the way, he’s doing it in the South Bronx, not to make a point, but because he’s got court and the man practically has the legal version of an ankle bracelet around him, and he can’t leave the five boroughs because he always has to be in court. And so it is truly an embarrassment to him,” the Democrat lawmaker added.
Reagan also rallied at the South Bronx in 1980, criticizing incumbent Democratic President Jimmy Carter for failing to revitalize the urban area, which he compared to post-World War II London at the time.
The tide turned for Reagan in New York after the rally, and led to him winning the Democratic state during the 1980 general election by eight points.
Quaid said that he remembered living through the era and noted that Reagan’s South Bronx rally was “very significant.”
“It took guts to go there,” he commented. “He could have wound up with egg on his face.”
Quaid also revealed that Reagan, who he called a “man of the people” and a “great communicator,” was the first president that he ever voted for.
The upcoming biopic, which is the first full-length feature film about the 40th U.S. president, chronicles Reagan’s journey from his childhood in Dixon, Illinois, to his time as an actor Hollywood, and finally on to the White House.
The narrative is presented from the perspective of a fictional ex-KGB agent, Viktor Novikov (Jon Voight), who is visited by an emerging Russian leader curious about how the Soviet Union fell to his adversary, Reagan (Quiad).
“It’s a really good movie that will remind us of how America used to be and what America can be,” Quaid said about the film.
My latest movie is a must-watch for everybody!
Had a wonder time working with my good buddy Dennis Quaid on the Reagan film coming out soon!

“You know, it’s… kind of a presentation of Reagan,” he added. “He was a great human being, and I’m proud of the movie.”
Elsewhere it the discussion with Watters, the “Frequency” star pushed back against the left’s narrative that Trump is a “dictator.”
“Donald Trump has been talking about cleaning house, which, you know, kind of making a clean sweep to start over,” he remarked.
“That doesn’t mean being a dictator. That just means that we started doing what the American people have asked us to do.”
In another interview promoting the film, Quaid told Jordan Peterson that Reagan was his “favorite president,” stating he “voted for him twice.”
He also mentioned his support for Reagan caused friction with his more left-wing friends at the time, saying he was “kicked out of the hippies.”
Quaid also discussed government overreach, noting when the political left extends government power under the guise of helping people, it often becomes about expanding authority rather than aiding citizens.
The actor also mentioned that while he seems to skew conservative, he’s independent, who has voted for politicians from both sides of the aisle, including once for Bill Clinton, and once for Barack Obama.
While speaking to Peterson, the “Parent Trap” star heaped on additional praise for Trump’s foreign policy achievements and “principled” behavior.
Dennis Quaid the Hollywood actor playing Ronald Reagan in an upcoming movie just sung very high praises of Donald Trump

“All the stuff that’s happening right now would not be happening,” he said about how the the Israel-Hamas conflict would have played out if Trump was president.
While he did note that Trump could be a bully when standing up for what he believes in, Quaid doesn’t believe that’s a bad thing.
“I think [Trump] is very principled. He is very sweet and at the same time he can be [a bully about his beliefs],” he concluded. “He did a great job raising his kids. They themselves are very principled.”
